Industry and commercial noise

Industrial and commercial facilities frequently generate sounds. The determination of the intensity of these sounds and their evaluation with respect to the neighbourhood constitute one of the main activities of LÄRMKONTOR GmbH. We evaluate the noise generated by large commercial and industrial enterprises as well as by small businesses, retailers or offices on the basis of pertinent regulations.
The protection of the neighborhood is given just as much consideration as the ability to obtain public permission for the industrial and commercial organisations in question. But also the process of moving sensitive uses (e.g. residential buildings, hospitals, schools) closer to commercial and industrial facilities is analysed and assessed from an acoustic point of view.

Approval procedures

As part of the approval procedures associated with finding locations for commercial or industrial enterprises, LÄRMKONTOR GmbH provides forecasts regarding the immission caused by companies affecting the neighbourhood based on emission approaches derived through facility descriptions, relevant literature or empirical values (e.g. our own measurement results).
In cases in which the acoustic forecast raises concerns regarding possible conflicts, LÄRMKONTOR GmbH, in close cooperation with the client, develops structural, technical and operational measures in order to achieve the approval of a project. In doing so, we keep a close eye on feasibility as well as on the economic efficiency for the company.

Commercial noise in area development planning

LÄRMKONTOR GmbH regularly conducts acoustic analyses in connection with area development planning (land use plans, zoning plans). The objective is to assess the effect of planned commercial and industrial areas on the neighbourhood as well as of the impact of immissions generated by them on planned sensitive utilisation areas. If there is a conflict, suggestions are made with respect to active as well as passive noise protection measures and, if required, terms for a land use plan procedure are proposed.

Allotments for commercial areas – allotment verification

Foto

In cases in which several commercial areas that have not yet been planned completely have to be assessed in the course of area development planning, it is possible to designate sound allotments in accordance with DIN 45691. Emission allotments are allocated to individual areas so that the immission limit values can be met in all relevant immission locations with respect to the total number of areas. Allotments can be modified for later use so that, for instance, certain areas receive bigger allotments during the nighttime than areas for which nighttime activities are not planned.
If companies settle in the area at a later point, only these allotments have to be verified and the other businesses do not require any more attention.

Commercial noise consulting

LÄRMKONTOR GmbH provides consulting beyond the approval phase, e.g. to optimise operational processes from an acoustic perspective or to deliberate possible changes within the operational processes or planned plant extensions.
If required, LÄRMKONTOR GmbH conducts sound level measurements as well. It is possible to measure immissions in order to assess the impact the company has on its surroundings or to measure the emissions which provides information on the possibilities to optimise processes. As an official agency in accordance with section 26 BImSchG, LÄRMKONTOR GmbH also conducts officially required measurements according to the mentioned directive in all federal states.
